ReleasiFication

About

Every tuesday, our robot workers find the newest album releases of artists you love to listen to according to your Last.FM. Little elves subsequently write you an email with album details and direct links to the iTunes & Amazon store.

So What? Why do I want this?

Well, if you're anything like me your iTunes library probably looks like this: itunes library Not even twice as many albums as artists. Even though we all like to think of ourselves obsessive fans that know everything about new album releases of our favorite artists, apparently we (or at least I...) fail at achieving this. Fed up with this, I began searching for a service that could stay in the loop for me.

Sounds like a something Last.FM could do effectively, right? Unfortunately, their new release pages are terrible.. Soundamus provides similar functionality, but exchanges ease of use for customization and information overload. Hopefully, Releasification will provide an easier user experience.

Why is this free?

Currently, hosting is not costing me a dime thanks to Heroku's wonderful free service. Whenever scores of people decide to start using this service referral links in the weekly release emails will hopefully pay for the server costs. Not of the music purchasing kind? Sign up anyway and move along - there's probably some great Greasemonkey script out there that will provide direct links to your favorite music sharing site!

If all fails, advertising to the rescue..?

Who made this?

Some Information Sciences student dreaming of giving away free t-shirts some day.
